Charles Seller Foundation’s Talent Time Players Present URINETOWN
The Charles Seller Foundation will celebrate its 64th annual production when the curtain rises on URINETOWN on August 1, 2013. Each year, the foundation’s Talent Time Players produce a show to benefit a young person in Bloomfield or the surrounding areas, when medical expenses have created a hardship for the family.
The first production, a variety show called “Talent Time” in 1950, was created as a response to the injury of young Charles Seller, who lost his leg in a train accident. His friends came together to put on a show, and an amazing tradition was born. Under the auspices of The Charles Seller Foundation, Talent Time is comprised of young people aged 14 to 30, whose selfless efforts over the years have been a benefit to their peers in need. This year’s beneficiary is Colin Michael Jones of Bloomfield, a survivor of a rare childhood birth defect called hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
URINETOWN is a musical comedy with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. A hilarious satire that skewers politics, social irresponsibility and popular musical theatre, it tells the story of an America where even the most basic of human needs becomes fodder for corporate greed. URINETOWN opened on Broadway in September of 2001, and ran for two and a half years. It was nominated for ten Tony awards and won three (including Best Book and Best Original Score). The Talent Time production is directed by Brandon Doemling, with musical direction by Jack Bender and choreography by Tracey Turner Turano.
URINETOWN will be performed at the Bloomfield High School Auditorium, located at 160 Broad Street in Bloomfield, with performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m., August 1, 2, 3 and 8, 9, 10. Tickets are $15.00 general admission, or $12.00 for students and seniors, and may be purchased at the door.

THE SHOW
it’s 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. Only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. With a brand new score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980’s, THE WEDDING SINGER takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.
